Toby Ragaini
Co-Founder and CEO
Toby Ragaini is one of the industry’s most experienced massively multiplayer online game designers. To date, he has been working exclusively on MMO games for over 12 years and his enthusiasm for the genre continues unabated.
Toby has lead the design effort on two complete MMO titles from concept to the post-launch service environment and has also produced game proposals that have secured such mass market properties as The Matrix and The DC Universe.
His design efforts have helped obtain publishing agreements with companies like Microsoft, Ubisoft, Warner Brothers, and Sega.
In addition to his work on subscription based titles, with Thinglefin, Toby has entered the emerging market of micro-transactions and seeks to innovate in bringing online games to an increasingly casual game audience.
In November 1999, Asheron’s Call launched to critical and commercial success, quickly insuring the developer’s future and inspiring a sequel that would launch in 2002.
In March 2005, The Matrix Online launched as the first movie inspired MMO that would continue the story of a movie property in episodic updates. The game was credited for capturing the essence of The Matrix universe, and would go on to provide a renewed online presence for the franchise.
Prior to his entry into the computer game industry, Toby was a member of a NIMH research team searching for genes that conferred a predisposition to a mental illness called bipolar disorder. Toby graduated from WPI with distinction in 1995, earning a BS in biotechnology.
